Edmonton Fall Classic ST - Oct 23-25 Thirteen members of the Elks Speedskating club travelled to Edmonton over the weekend to participate in a competition. It was a big meet with over 200 skaters, including many of the top short track skaters from Western Canada.
It was a good meet for the local club, with all the skaters looking good in the early season. Of particular note was Mitch Kupchanko, who has looked sharp early skating against very tough competition from the oval program in Calgary.

During this exciting time of firsts for the Enerplex, the City again cautions the public that while the facility will be in use as of September 16, only the first floor will be open. The Oval on the second floor and the track on the third floor are still undergoing the last phases of construction and will remain closed to public access throughout the month of September and into early October. The City will release details of the upper floors opening in the near future.
Access to the Enerplex and parking will only be permitted at the rear of the facility. Vehicles can only access the Enerplex site from 100th Street past the North Peace Museum, Skate Park, and Business Resource Centre. (adjacent to Centennial Park) Patrons scheduled to use the facility are asked to use caution and watch for appropriate signage.
The official Grand Opening date is set for November 27 when all three floors are scheduled to be completely operational and safe for public access. Phased use will continue to be implemented over the coming months and the public is asked to watch for more information to come.
