CLARA OVEREND

Clara Overend, one of an incredible group of speed skating pioneers in BC, has passed away.  Her love of speed skating began in the Dawson Creek/Fort St. John area of the province but in the seventies, after having moved south, she started several clubs throughout  the lower mainland.

Clara went on to become President of CASSA (now known as SSC) and attended more than one Olympics as Canada's Team Manager. Her husband Howard  (who was involved with  speed skating too) has published a lovely obituary - it can be viewed at  the following link, along with a guest book.
